Biometrics provide an identification for an individual by assigning a unique number or name for that individual. How that information or that ID is used is what is determined next . Many of our solutions simply provide the identification number or name of the individual, and this number or name is sent to a legacy solution (basically a software system) that is running for the business. Once that individual has been identified, then it's business as usual in a library book check-out transaction, in a point-of-sale transaction at a retail store, or for someone who is opening the door to get to work.
Magnetic, bar code readers or PINs can be simply replaced with biometric technology. Instead of swiping a card or entering a PIN number a biometric reader provides that unique number to start the business transaction.
