“No ID, no Sale!” is a motto recently being marketed by the state of Pennsylvania to spread awareness that anyone trying to purchase items that are, in most cases, government-controlled like cigarettes or even alcohol will be carded if the person appears to be of questionable age. However, in some states like Colorado, where the sale of alcohol is managed by independent retailers, the liability of selling to someone who is underage might be higher due to the fact that a retailer can be fined because of an employee indiscretion of selling to a minor, but the retailer can also lose the business license that gives that retailer the right to sell that product for a time period or permanently.
But what if the ID is fake or if an employee “knows the person” and the sale is made to the minor regardless of awareness campaigns or legal regulations?
